This cake was made as a secret birthday surprise for a gentleman who collects beautiful guitars. Working with photographs and measurements a 2/3 scale model of the guitar was produced in vanilla sponge with as much accuracy as possible. All parts of the guitar were edible with the exception of the strings and 6 tiny lengths of flower wire.
I was one of only two cake designers across Scotland and Northern Ireland to be awarded Highly Commended recognition in the 2020 Cake Professionals Awards sculpted cake category for this cake.
